After Team India's squad for all the three formats was announced last week for the upcoming tour of West Indies, Sourav Ganguly was not convinced and opined that it was high time for selectors to pick the same players in all formats of the game for rhythm and confidence as only a few of them are playing in all the formats. However, former Indian batsman Vinod Kambli was of the opinion that the best players should be chosen to play in that particular format.

Sourav Ganguly and Vinod Kambli: The contrasting opinions

Ganguly, who is regarded as one of India's most successful captains, said that great teams had consistent players, before advising the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that it was not about making all happy but picking the best for the country and being consistent. The 'Prince of Calcutta' also added that there is no dearth of players in the squad who can play all formats of the game before saying that he was surprised not to find Shubman Gill and Ajinkya Rahane's names in the ODI squad.
