South Africa cricket in crisis after govt orders probe into CSA's financial mismanagement

The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) is looking to investigate Cricket South Africa's alleged financial mismanagement.

Uncertainty looms over future for cricket in South Africa as South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) is looking to investigate Cricket South Africa's financial mismanment in coming days. government body also is looking to set up a special task force for same. SASCOC is looking to dress several financial and ministrative mismanment allegations against South African cricketing body in recent years.

SASCOC is a committee under  South African central government that oversees operations for all sports in country. crisis within cricket board was triggered with expulsion of CEO Thabang Moroe due to 'serious misconduct' charges. ministration suffered ar blow as Chris Nenzani also resigned as well as his successor - Jacques Faul - hung up his boots. SASCOC has suspended CSA on charges of 'alleged malministration and malpractices'.

South African cricket crisis: Future of South African players for IPL 2020

sports industry throughout world is facing a major crisis due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. With  South African cricket board removed virtually, it makes situation even worse for cricketers in country. It was also speculated that participation of cricketers under South Africa's contract was doubtful because of CSA fiasco. However, fortunately for players, whole scenario will t have an effect on ir IPL 2020 contracts since it is a domestic tournament and players have a tripartite agreement, i.e. with CSA, BCCI and IPL team in question. BCCI and IPL 2020 organising committee will be pleased after this information.

While future of CSA remains in doubt, it is pertinent to te that it might also be banned from ICC. ICC code restricts any form of government interference in day-to-day functioning of any cricket board. Last year, Zimbabwe Cricket was also banned for a certain period due to government interference. If ban is imposed, it will be second time in history that it has been imposed on South Africa, with first one coming in 1970 due to government's aparid policy.

Ravi Govender, acting CEO for SASCOC, revealed that board is t going to involve Cricket South Africa in ir probe, but rar y will share all information with ICC. It will be interesting to see what transpires furr in South African cricket crisis and what will be ICC's stand on ongoing South African cricket crisis.
