On this day in 2017, South African openers Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla put Banglesh to sword after a record partnership in first ODI at Kimberely. Chasing 279 to win, South Africa won game comprehensively in 43rd over of innings. Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla scored centuries helping South Africa win encounter by 10 wickets. Earlier, Mushfiqur Rahim also scored a hundred to propel Banglesh to a respectable 279.

South Africa vs Banglesh: Rahim Redemption

Banglesh came into ODI series after being completely battered in Test series. Banglesh lost first Test by 333 runs and second one by an innings and 254 runs. Despite troubles, Banglesh won toss and chose to bat in first ODI at Kimberley. Banglesh started cautiously, putting on 44 for loss of Liton Das. Mushfiqur Rahim’s arrival in 14th over after Imrul Kayes’s dismissal saw Banglesh effectively change gears. Mushfiqur kept scoreboard ticking but his fellow teammates couldn’t convert ir starts into substantial scores. Mushfiqur kept going, playing some audacious strokes including ones charging fast bowlers en route a well deserved hundred. He became first Bangleshi batsman to score a hundred vs South Africa in any format of game. Banglesh ended with 278/7, with one except Mushfiqur scoring more than 31.

South Africa’s famed duo of Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla walked into bat kwing that Bangleshis were without ir le pacer, Mustafizur Rahman. de Kock attacked from onset taking a special liking for Mohamm Saifuddin and Taskin Ahmed. Amla, on or hand, stood his ground, accumulating in his casual demeaur, letting de Kock do all attacking. de Kock raced to his 13th ODI hundred, while Hashim Amla recorded his 26th ODI Ton. duo put on record for highest partnership by a South African pair, for any wicket, in any format. de Kock finished with 168* while Hashim Amla remained 110* as South Africa chased down Banglesh total without losing a wicket with 43 balls to spare.
