South Africa's Rusell Domingo named as head coach for Bangladesh

Former South African cricketer Rusell Domingo was appointed as the head coach for the Bangladesh national team for a term of two years on Saturday. Domingo, who has played junior cricket for Eastern Province before going on to take up coaching roles at a very young age, was named by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as the head coach for the men's senior team.

Domingo said he was erly looking ahe to his new challenge. "It is a massive hour to be appointed He Coach of Banglesh National Cricket Team. I have followed Banglesh's progress with keen interest and I am extremely excited to assist team in reaching goals that y are capable of", he said.

Domingo's record as a coach

Domingo became South Africa's U-19 coach in 2004 and for U-19 World Cup in Banglesh. He was named as coach of South Africa 'A' side for ir tour to Banglesh in 2010 and was later appointed as Assistant Coach of South African team in 2011. He took over from former Proteas coach Gary Kirsten as coach of T20 squ in December 2012 and went on to replace Kirsten as he coach in 2013, until 2017 when he was relieved.  

"I look forward to continuing ongoing development of current players whilst also looking towards future and developing some new bright stars from within talent pool of Banglesh cricket," he ded.

Anuncing appointment BCB President Nazmul Hassan, MP said Domingo's vision for Banglesh me him ideal candidate for role: "He has a wealth of experience and we have been very impressed with his passion and coaching philosophy. He has a clear idea of what is required to take team forward."

He has led South Africa to semifinals of 2014 ICC World T20 in Banglesh and 2015 ICC World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Domingo has also coached Warriors franchise in South Africa's domestic one-day and T20 competitions and at Champions League T20. 44-year-old is expected to arrive in Dhaka on August 21 to take charge of team.
