Sri Lanka Cricket taken to court by sacked coach Chandika Hathurusingha: Report
Chandika Hathurusingha faced heavy criticism after Sri Lanka did not play well in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup. The former batsman has coached Bangladesh too.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) sacked ir he coach Chandika Hathurusingha after team's dismal performance at 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup. Hathurusingha was replaced by South African Mickey Arthur in December last year. It is w being reported that Hathurusingha has t taken well to his sacking and is demanding a heavy compensation from Sri Lankan cricket's apex body.

Wrongful sacking?
Hathurusingha has also been coach of Banglesh. Under him, team performed brilliantly. It was under his coaching that Banglesh team qualified for both 2017 ICC Champions Trophy and 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.
Hathurusingha was appointed as Sri Lankan he coach in 2017 but was t able to produce impressive results. During his sacking, Sri Lankan board h spoken about this poor performance that y h observed over 2018 and first half of 2019.

But was it entirely Hathurusingha's fault that team was t performing well? Or was it team that was t able to function well as a unit?
Hathurusingha has also coached UAE and has worked with Canian team too. He has also been assistant coach of New South Wales and later went on to coach Sydney Thunder in Big Bash League. Coming from such a vast coaching background, it is only understandable to explore reasons for SL's World Cup failure to be beyond Hathurusingha's capabilities.

Hathurusingha's sacking
After Sri Lankan cricket team failed to impress at 2019 50-over World Cup, Hathurusingha faced flak from cricket board and or experts. Sri Lankan sports minister at time - Harin Fernando - came out and called out Hathurusingha for underperforming and pocketing unreasonable ws.

Fernando even ded that board could have hired a foreign coach for half as much as y were paying Hathurusingha. According to Sunday Island, Hathurusingha was contracted for a fee of USD 60,000 per month.

Hathurusingha is reported to have been seeking a million dollars. It would roughly amount to ws of 18 months which were remaining in his tenure. sacked coach is w claiming that his im as a coach has suffered because of sacking. He has proceeded to call it wrongful termination. He has laid forward a demand of five million US dollars.
This heavy sum is said to include unpaid dues that SLC owe Hathurusingha along with dams. It was also reported that SLC was only willing to pay six months' worth of salary to Hathurusingha.
