Sunil Gavaskar unhappy with fans breaching security during matches

Sunil Gavaskar has expressed his unhappiness over fans breaching security during matches in India. A fan had marched to the ground for touching Rohit's feet.

Former captain Sunil Gavaskar was left fuming after a fan on Saturday, October 12, broke security cordon and entered playing field during India's ongoing second Test against South Africa at Maharashtra Cricket Stadium here. A fan dodged stadium security and came close to Rohit Sharma, who was standing at slips on third day of match. He touched Rohit's feet before security staff intervened and escorted him out of ground.

Gavaskar infuriated by fan's actions

incident infuriated cricketer-turned-commentator Gavaskar, who called for accountability from ground security staff.

"se incidents happen because security people are t watching crowd but are watching match. This has been perennial problem in India," said Gavaskar, who is a part of commentary panel.

" security is t re to watch match for free. y are re to stop such interruptions from happening." Gavaskar said such incidents are major security risks for players. "I say put camera on security and check wher y are watching match or crowd.

"This is a dangerous security issue which is what you are re for, to make sure one goes into ground. Anyone can cause dam to a player. It has happened in past, why take a chance," he said.

 Third such incident 

Saturday's incident is third such security breach that happened in ongoing South Africa's tour of India. In first Test at Vishakhapatnam, a fan entered ground and shook India skipper Virat Kohli's hand and also tried to take a selfie. Earlier during second T20I between two teams in Mohali, match was interrupted twice as fans entered field of play.

Indian bowlers were on top of ir game as y mand to reduce visitors to half ir side before lunch on Day three. With Umesh Yadav and Shami picking up three scalps before closing play on Day Three, India mand to get nightwatchman Anrich rtje dismissed early in first session on Day four. Quinton de Kock and Faf Du Plessis attempted to steady innings for South Africa but failed to do, as de Kock was dismissed for 31 runs while Faf Du Plessis was dismissed after a gritty 64-run kck. Keshav Maharaj and Vern Philander played patience game to frustrate Indian bowlers but it was Ashwin who had last laugh as he wrapped up Proteas batting in final over of Day three and bundling out  visitors for 275. Ravichandran Ashwin picked up four scalps and conceded 69 runs while Umesh Yadav picked up three scalps for just 37 runs in 13 overs. Ravindra Jadeja added one wicket to his tally while pacer Mohammad Shami added two to his. It was quite evident that skipper Virat Kohli was using spinners more than pacers as former were given 64 overs as opposed to latter's 40 overs. India w have a massive 326-run lead.
