Sydney Sixers becomes 1st BBL 2020 team to kneel for Black Lives Matter before every game
Sydney Sixers have shown their support to the Black Lives Matter movement and will take the knee before every game in the ongoing Big Bash League.

Big Bash League action is back and defending champions Sydney Sixers opened ir campaign against Hobart Hurricanes. Sixers are one of most successful and popular sides in BBL 2020, and have been earmarked as one of favourites for tournament. And while Men in Pink did t get ir title defence to good a start, y made ir mark by pledging mselves to fight against racism.

Sydney Sixers pledge support to Black Lives Matter, take knee before BBL 2020 opener
Ahead of ir game against Hobart Hurricanes, Sydney Sixers team led by stand-in captain Daniel Hughes took knee ahead of first ball of game. Hurricanes also joined as both teams used gesture to make a stand against racism. Sydney Sixers said in a statement ahead of ir game against Hobart said that examples of people being mistreated simply due to colour of ir skin was "unacceptable" as y revealed ir desire to tackle racial injustice. Sixers' move comes after New Zealand players took knee along with West Indian players in ir ongoing bilateral series.

statement furr revealed that Sixers will take a knee before first ball in support of ir teammates and those who have been impacted by racism. stance follows an education session provided by several members of squad and comes with unanimous support from players and staff. statement furr said that as a club and as individuals, Sixers have committed to educating mselves better on history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, to fight for inclusion and justice, and to stand with communities on path to reconciliation and equal rights.

Sydney Sixers, however, got off to a poor start in absence of several key players in ir opener against Hobart Hurricanes. Hurricanes posted a daunting 178 on board, with Colin Ingram and Tim David scoring vital half-centuries after both openers got dismissed for a duck. In reply, Sixers had a good start with Jack Edwards and James Vince piling runs, but ir chase derailed after latter’s departure.
Captain Daniel Hughes and Jordan Silk failed to get going as Sixers eventually fell short by 16 runs. defending champions will w face off against Melbourne Renegades, on Sunday, December 13.
