The Mumbai cricket team will be playing the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy without the services of their top players, who are currently a part of the Indian team for the ongoing T20I series against Bangladesh. The Mumbai selectors have gone with a tried and tested side for the tournament, hoping for better results. We look at five players from Mumbai's squad who will be vital for the team's success.
Suryakumar Yadav
The veteran Mumbai player and the skipper will be leading the team in this year's Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Yadav will replace Shreyas Iyer as skipper, who led Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20 and is away on national duty for the Bangladesh T20Is. Yadav was the third-highest run-getter (226 runs) for Mumbai in this year's Vijay Hazare Trophy and once again the team will be relying on him to score runs in the tournament.
Aditya Tare
The mainstay of Mumbai side and the former skipper will have the responsibility to keep the batting line-up intact with his wealth of experience in domestic cricket. Tare scored 413 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and was second behind young Yashasvi Jaiswal in the run-getters list for Mumbai.
Siddhesh Lad
The right-handed batsman is reputed for being Mumbai's crisis man due to his match-saving knocks for the team in all formats of the game. Despite some incredible performances, he has only a single IPL game under his belt so far. After a poor outing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he will be looking to put up a good show for aside, who is missing big names.
Dhaval Kulkarni
The right-arm pacer has been the backbone of Mumbai's bowling attack for many years. His enormous experience in the domestic cricket will be really important for the bowling unit along with spinner Shams Mulani and Dhrumil Matkar. In the recent Vijay Hazare tournament, he picked up 15 wickets in 8 matches.
Shams Mulani
The left-arm spinner will look to continue with his impressive streak of performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Mulani had a great Vijay Hazare tournament and was the second-highest wicket-taker for Mumbai with 12 wickets.
