ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 kicked off on October 16 with first-round match between Sri Lanka and Namibia. In highly anticipated clash, Asia Cup 2022 champions Sri Lanka faced a massive 55-run defeat. After winning toss and deciding to bowl first, Sri Lanka were bowled out on score of 108 runs while chasing target of 164. 

While victory bettered Namibia’s chances of reaching Super-12 st for second time in a row, it certainly me things difficult for Sri Lanka. At same time, Namibia’s win can also impact India’s campaign as both Sri Lanka and West Indies can join India in Group 2 of Super 12 st. While India is currently accompanied by Pakistan, South Africa and Banglesh in Group 2, y will be joined by winner of Group B and runner-up of Group A in first round.

T20 World Cup: Top two from Round 1 to vance into Super 12 st

As per format of tournament, top two teams from each group will join eight teams which have alrey qualified for Super 12 st. Sri Lanka’s loss on Sunday cast serious doubt on ir chances of topping Group A table. If y end group st with a second-place finish and join India in Group 2 at Super 12 st, it will certainly fuel up contest between teams.

On or hand, West Indies is in Group B in first round alongside Scotland, Ireland, and Zimbabwe. If Caribbean side finish in  top of Group B, y will also he into Group 2 at Super 12. This will end up converting Group 2 at Super 12 st to a Group of Death, as it will feature six heavyweights, India, Pakistan, Banglesh, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and West Indies.
