T20 World Cup semifinal, India vs England live updates: England beat India at Adelaide

Alex Hales received the player of the match award for his furious innings. 

England cruised to victory against India by 10 wickets in the India vs England semi-final at ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 on Thursday. Jos Buttler remained not out on 80 off 49, while Alex Hales remained unbeaten on 86 off 47 and took England through to the win with 24 balls remaining in the match. India earlier set a target of 169 runs for England. The English team will now lock horns against Pakistan in the summit clash on Sunday.

Despite scoring just two runs in the 15th over, England stood at 156/0. They now need 13 runs off 30 balls to win the match.

The 10th over of England's chase was bowled by Arshdeep Singh. The young pacer  tried to pull India back into the game and gave away just seven runs from the over.

After 14 overs of their chase, England find themselves at 154/0. Jos Buttler is batting on 70 off 43, while Alex Hales is on 80 off 41. England need 14 runs to win the match in 35 balls.

Hardik Pandya gave away just 7 runs opening his spell in the match. England scored 91 runs at no loss after 9 overs.

Alex Hales hit another six in the 2nd ball of the 8th over, before completing his fifty off just 28 balls in the same over. England stood at 84/0 in 8 overs.

England added 12 runs to their total in the 7th over, which included a sweep shot by Hales that went for six.

Jos Buttler and Alex Hales continued hitting big runs for England, as they stood at 63/0 at the end of powerplay.

England hit 41 runs in the first four overs of their chase, with Jos Buttler scoring 24 off 14 and Alex Hales scoring 15 off 10.

Alex Hales and Jos Buttler completed their fifty-run partnership for the first wicket as England found themselves at 52/0 in five overs. India now needs to defend 117 runs in 90 balls to win the match.

Arshdeep Singh gave away 8 runs in his first over after a 13-run opening over from Bhuvneshwar Kumar. England are 21-0 in 2 overs. 

While the over started with a wide, English captain Jos Buttler hit three boundaries in the first over. England were 13/0 after the first over, with 156 runs needed to win in 114 balls.

Hardik Pandya's 33-ball 63 powered India to a total of 168/6 in the first innings of the India vs England, T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final.

Hardik Pandya hit a six and four in the 19th over, before losing his wicket via hit wicket in the final ball of the innings. India ended the innings at 168/6.

Hardik Pandya completed his fifty off just 29 deliveries and proved why he is considered to be one of the best allrounders in the game. He hit 14 runs in the final three balls of the 19th over as India found themselves at 156/4 with six balls remaining.

While Chris Jordan came out to bowl the 18th over, Pandya hit two consecutive sixes in the first two balls. The first six was a pull shot toward the midwicket boundary, while the second was a glorious flick toward the backward square leg boundary.

Kohli and Pandya ran for a double in the penultimate ball of the 18th over, as the 34-year-old completed his fourth fifty+ knock of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022. However, Jordan bounced back and dismissed Kohli in the next over.

Hardik Pandya hit a glorious six over the cover point boundary as the innings entered its last four overs. He added two more doubles in the over and took the score to 120/3 in 16.4 overs.

Virat Kohli hit a beautiful four in the final ball of the 15th over and became the first-ever international cricketer to register 4000+ runs in the shortest format of the game. India stood at 100/3 after 15 overs, with Kohli batting on 43* off 35.

Facing English allrounder Ben Stokes, Suryakumar Yadav hit a brilliant six in the penultimate ball of the 11th over and followed it up with a four. India are 74/2 after 11 overs in the semi-final.

Bowling his final over of the match, Adil Rashid contributed with the dismissal of star batter Suryakumar Yadav in the 12th over. Surya hit 14 runs in 10 balls, as Hardik Pandya replaced him in the middle.

India are 62/2 after 10 overs in the first innings, as Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli look to stabilize India's innings.

Chris Jordan removed Rohit Sharma in the penultimate ball of the 9th over, as India found themselves at 57/2. Rohit hit 27 runs off 28 balls during his outing. Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli will now look to make the most of the remaining 11 overs.

India skipper Rohit Sharma hit consecutive boundaries in the 5th over of the match as India crossed the 30-run mark.

Virat Kohli took a single in the 3rd over of the game, as England tightened the grip after KL Rahul's dismissal.

Virat Kohli hit a six with an elegant cover drive, over the extra cover. This was the first six of the match.

KL Rahul was dismissed off Chris Woakes' first over. India were reduced to 9/1 in 1.4 overs as Virat Kohli walked out to bat at no.3.

KL Rahul hit a four off the first ball by Ben Stokes, before rotating the strike. India are 6/0 after the first over.

Ben Stokes opened the bowling for England during the semi-final match against India, who started with the regular opening pair of captain Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul.

Team India is all prepped up for the semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 at the Adelaide Oval stadium in Adelaide, Australia on Thursday. After finishing the Super 12 stage of the tournament as the Group 2 winner, the Men In Blue will be up against England in a bid to seal a spot in the T20 World Cup finale. The winner of the second semi-final on Thursday will join Pakistan in the summit clash, which is scheduled to take place in Melbourne on Sunday.
