Following an enormous setback in the 2nd ODI, which resulted in country-wide criticism, Team India is back to the winning ways. In the 3rd and series-deciding ODI against West Indies, India defeated the hosts in spectacular fashion. With a 200-run victory at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, the visiting side broke an old record or established a new standard for themselves to beat.

India broke a colossal record in IND vs WI 3rd ODI

Courtesy of some extraordinary batting from Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, and Hardik Pandya, India reached a colossal first-innings score of 351 runs, after being put on to bat first by Windies. Chasing the monumental total, West Indies lost wickets up-front, and soon it became apparent that Team India is going to display its ascendancy by a huge margin. 200 runs turned out to be the deficit between the teams in the end, which meant that the team has annexed a new summit. 

A 200-run victory over WI modified the record books and became India's biggest-ever away win over West Indies. Bettering the previous best of 125 runs, which came at Manchester during the ICC ODI World Cup 2019. Moreover, as India wrapped up the series with a 2-1 scoreline, this further augmented an already magnificent record. The ODI series win comes as Team India's 13th consecutive against West Indies.

What does this victory mean?

Although a clean sweep was expected ahead of the start of the series, but following a loss, the Men in Blue came back with a statement-like win. The margin of win seemingly justifies the prevailing stature of the two teams in world cricket. However, does it make India the premier contender for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023?
