It's safe to say that South Africa's Temba Bavuma's three-year-old wish to see Virat Kohli bat all day came true on Day two of the second Test in Pune as skipper Virat Kohli went amock to lead the side to a giant 601 runs total at the end of the first innings. Virat Kohli resumed Day two with his score below 100 and went on to finish his innings by the end of the day at 254 runs, toppling many records on the way and surpassing many legends as well. Temba Bavuma had taken to Twitter three years earlier to say that the pair of Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane were a delight to watch and that he could see them all day. This was during a contest between India and New Zealand in 2016. Well, it turns out that Temba Bavuma's dream has come true thanks to Virat Kohli, who went on to bat for the whole day, displaying sheer class and brilliance. Ravindra Jadeja and Virat Kohli stitched together a healthy partnership after Ajinkya Rahane departed earlier in the day.

Resuming his innings on Day two, skipper Virat Kohli played a magnificent knock en route to 250 runs and received good support from Ravindra Jadeja on the other end. Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed for 59 runs following which the Indian skipper stepped on the accelerator and quickly went from scoring a 100 to a 200 and finally a 250. On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja narrowly missed out on his century by just nine runs as he fell prey to South Africa's Senuran Muthuswamy. Skipper Virat Kohli was hailed as a selfless skipper by the fans for declaring the innings at the fall of Jadeja's wicket instead of pursuing his maiden score of 300 runs as there were still 18 overs left for the day. Virat Kohli's latest knocks takes his Test tally to 7054 runs, averaging 55.11 with seven double-hundreds to his name. Virat Kohli also broke Australian legend Don Bradman's record of scoring the most number of 150-run knocks as a captain as he registered the ninth 150-run score of his career as opposed to Bradman's eight.
