The Kings XI Punjab opener played the innings on his life at the Wankhede stadium, bringing up his maiden IPL century. And one of the highlights of the knock was the Karnataka batsman hammering Pandya for 23 runs in five balls in the 19th over which included three sixes and a four, the first four balls on the scoreboard read 6466.
Netizens couldn’t help but connect it to the row over the duo’s misogynist and sexist comments on Karan Johar’s chat show earlier this year. It was Pandya who was to be blamed for his casual comments about women, dating and sex life which were termed ‘racist’, ‘sexist’ and 'misogynist.' Though Rahul didn’t make any directly offensive comment, he was accused of playing along, and the duo was punished together and dropped from the Australian tour.

Several netizens had earlier stood up for Rahul since they felt he was just at the wrong place at the wrong time and was unnecessarily punished.

This hammering made Twiteratti feel that he took ‘sweet revenge’ for facing the heat because of the all-rounder.
Some even called it a ‘super deal’ between the two and that the bowler bowled pies to 'make up' for it.

The controversial episode was aired in the first week of January, triggering outrage, which prompted the COA to call the duo back from the tour of Australia handing them provisional suspensions.
The Supreme Court-appointed BCCI Ombudsman Justice (Retd) D K Jain recently issued notices to both of them recently to appear for a deposition for their sexist comments on a TV chat show.
Pandya and Rahul were provisionally suspended by the Committee of Administrators (COA) before the ban was lifted pending an inquiry by the Ombudsman.
