India's chances in the upcoming ICC World Cup will depend a lot on how they perform in the upcoming Asia Cup and in the series against Australia. India’s recent experiment to test a number of combinations failed rapidly and there will be pressure to tick all the boxes in this tournament. Injuries to pivotal players have hampered India’s progress and players like Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer will have very little chance prove their fitness.

Bumrah has been announced as the captain of the Ireland series but both Iyer and Rahul have still been in the rehabilitation process and Rohit insists he hopes to have them back very soon.

"They (Rahul and Iyer) have been at the NCA for the last four months, working really hard and it looks quite positive so we will keep our fingers crossed.”

He further added that injuries also became an issue and debates regarding India’s best player at number four is yet to be settled.
