NZ vs ENG: Trent Boult passes Richard Hadlee’s record in the 3rd ODI

New Zealand pacer Trent Boult got his sixth 5-wicket haul in ODI cricket on September 13. This was a big step in his career. With this, Boult passed the great Richard Hadlee to become the New Zealand bowler with the most 5-wicket hauls in ODI cricket. It is a big deal for Boult as he becomes the fastest bowler with six 5 wicket-hauls, and it further proves that he is one of the best players in New Zealand cricket history.

Boult had a huge influence by getting two early wickets in the third one-day international of the series, played at The Oval in London. With only 16 balls, England found themselves in a difficult position at 13-2 as Boult dismissed Joe Root for four and Jonny Bairstow for a duck. However, an excellent 199-run partnership between Ben Stokes and Dawid Malan for the third wicket changed the course of the game and put the New Zealand bowlers under pressure. Boult also took out Dawid Malan, Sam Curran, and Gus Atkinson, in addition to Bairstow and Root. Boult was the only specialist bowler for New Zealand to keep an economy rate of less than 6.

England's first innings ended after they had scored 368 runs. After a year away from ODIs, Boult made an amazing return to the team. In the second ODI of the series, he did a great job by taking three wickets, and he kept doing great things in the third ODI. However, that was not enough, as New Zealand failed to chase the score.
