The Uganda men's cricket team on Thursday created history as they qualified for the T20 World Cup 2024. Uganda became the 20th team to book a place in the marquee ICC event, which is slated to be held next year in the West Indies and the United States. Uganda defeated Rwanda in their final Africa qualifier match to move to the next stage.

Uganda players celebrate qualification with spirited dance

In the aftermath of their historic victory, Uganda players were seen celebrating the T20 World Cup qualification with a spirited dance on the field. A video of their celebration is going viral on social media platforms. The current lot of players will be fully aware of the magnitude of this feat. They are the first cricket team from the country to qualify for an ICC event. 

Namibia is the other team that has earned a spot in the T20 World Cup 2024 from the Africa region qualifiers. Nepal and Oman have qualified from Asia, Ireland, and Scotland from Europe, Canada from the Americas, and Papua New Guinea from the East Asia-Pacific region. Meanwhile, 12 teams had already qualified for the event last year.

A total of 20 teams will take part in the T20 World Cup 2024, which is scheduled to take place from June 4 to June 30. The tournament will be held in the West Indies and the United States.
