Indian cricket team thumped Sri Lanka by 41 runs in a low-scoring Super 4s encounter of Asia Cup 2023 at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Lankan Lions were t able to chase down 214 runs and got bundled for a score of 172 runs. Team India spinner Kuldeep Yadav once again shined with ball and picked up a four-wicket haul.

Indian bowlers seal Team India's Asia Cup 2023 finals spot

After being wrapped up for a score of 213 runs in first innings, Indian bowlers helped 'Men in Blue' make a tremendous comeback and seal a spot in Asia Cup 2023 finals. Indian left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav ended match with figures of 4/43, whereas, Jaspirt Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja also chipped in with two wickets each. Sri Lanka batters Dunith Wellal (42*) and Dhananjaya de Silva (41) tried ir best to take ir team over line but at last, Indian bowlers proved to be too much for Asia Cup 2023 co-hosts.

Wellal-Asalanka rip through Indian batting lineup

Before this, Indian cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma won toss and opted to bat first in fourth Super 4s fixture of Asia Cup 2023. Sri Lanka team was put under pressure by Indian openers Rohit and Shubman Gill as duo added 80 runs for first wicket. However, Indian team faced a terrible batting collapse after fall of Gill and lost rest nine wickets for next 133 runs.

Sri Lanka script unique record

Sri Lanka spinner Dunith Wellal and Charith Asalanka shared a total of nine wickets between each or and ran through Indian batting order. Wellal removed big names like Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Wellal also picked up his first five-wicket haul in ODI cricket, whereas, his partner Charith Asalanka ended match with a four-wicket haul. Sri Lanka will w play against Pakistan on September 14, 2023, and winner of match will meet Team India in finals of Asia Cup 2023.
