Vijay Hazare Trophy final: Karnataka vs Tamil Nadu attracts big crowd

Thanks to KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal’s unbeaten 114-run partnership and Abhimanyu Mithun’s hat-trick. the team was able to lift the trophy for the fourth time.

Karnataka defeated Tamil Nadu to win the Vijay Hazare Trophy final on Friday. Thanks to KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal’s unbeaten 114-run partnership and Abhimanyu Mithun’s hat-trick, the team was able to lift the trophy for the fourth time. However, a big reason for Karnataka’s big win can also be their fans as they came to the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to support their home team. This was the first time that the fans filled every seat of the stadium of a domestic cricket match. This was made possible because people were given free entry into the stadium to see the Vijay Hazare Trophy finals.

Many fans were seen cheering for the Karnataka players and some were even seen supporting the visitors. Fans also took to Twitter to spread the news about the free entry. Twitterati liked the support the people showed their team and praised them for their effort. One of the users wrote, “How lovely to see so many spectators in a domestic game.”

Vijay Hazare Trophy final: Match Overview

Karnataka won the toss and their captain Manish Pandey chose to field first. The bowling department of the team didn’t disappoint as they restricted Tamil Nadu to a modest total of 252 in 49.5 overs. Abhimanyu Mithun first dismissed Murali Vijay and then sent Vijay Shankar back to the pavilion. In the final over, Abhimanyu Mithun shined as he took a hat-trick by dismissing Shahrukh Khan, M Mohammed and Murugan Ashwin.

In their chase, Karnataka had a bad start as they lost their in-form opener Devdutt Pallikal in the fifth over. However, a fine partnership between KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal took the team to victory. KL Rahul scored 52 runs in 72 balls, while Mayank Agarwal scored 69 runs in just 55 balls.
