Virat Kohli gets emotionally hijacked, says former umpire Simon Taufel

Simon Taufel opined about Virat Kohli's on-field aggression and termed him to be a passionate and combative person who occasionally get emotionally hijacked

Virat Kohli, who is arguably touted as the best batsmen in the gentlemen's game at the moment has often had moments of fury on the field.  However, Simon Taufel, former Australian umpire in the international cricket pinned a different opinion. Taufel, who is often regarded as one of the greatest umpires, in his book 'Finding the Gaps' wrote about Kohli's on-field aggression and termed it as an emotional hijack.

"On the captaincy front, I've seen Virat Kohli at close quarters for more than ten years at the elite level. He is sometimes a passionate and combative person who can occasionally get emotionally hijacked," Taufel wrote in his book "Finding The Gaps".

Taufel, who has seen Kohli's game closely feels that the Indian skipper has matured with time and has become more self-aware and adjusting, knowing that how these attributes can affect his game. A chapter is Taufel's book 'Leading with integrity and values' apprised his opinions about Kohli's authenticity.

"Virat now appears to be very much self-aware of who he is and how these character traits can affect his game, and he can adjust when he needs to. Kohli is comfortable in his own skin, and this allows him to be a more authentic leader because he is being the best version of himself, " Taufel mentioned in his book.

Captain Kohli turns 31

On the occasion of Virat Kohli's birthday, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video that showed the clips from Kohli's first hundred for India. India's captain turns 31 on Tuesday, November 5.

Kohli, is reportedly in Bhutan on a vacation with his wife Anushka Sharma.
