Virat Kohli likely to smash Sourav Ganguly, Greg Chappell records against Bangladesh

Virat Kohli was rested for T20I series against Bangladesh which India went on to win comprehensively under Rohit Sharma’s leadership. As Kohli returns to lead India in Test series, re are a few milestones that he will be eyeing.

Indian captain is on his way to surpassing former captain and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly on list of most runs for India in Test cricket. Virat Kohli is currently placed at seventh position with 7066 runs from 82 matches while Sourav Ganguly ended his illustrious career with 7212 runs in 113 matches.

Virat Kohli to surpass Sourav Ganguly

Virat Kohli needs just 157 runs to move past Sourav Ganguly. players who top this glorious list are Sachin Tendulkar (15921), Rahul Dravid (13288), Sunil Gavaskar (10122), VVS Laxman (8718) and Virender Sehwag (8586).

In international arena, Kohli has an opportunity to move past Chris Gayle (7214), Stephen Fleming (7172), and Greg Chappell (7110) on all-time list for most Test runs.

Indian skipper also has an opportunity to equal Àllan Border's feat for most number of Test wins by a captain. Kohli has won 31 matches out of 51 he has captained while Border had won 32 out of 91.

India defeated Bangladesh 2-1 in recently-concluded T20I series and are set to take on Bangladesh in first Test in Indore. Both teams are set to play ir first-ever day-night Test in Kolkata from vember 22.
