Virat Kohli will be rested for the upcoming T20 series against Bangladesh while Rohit Sharma will don the captain's hat, announced chief selector MSK Prasad on Thursday. The Test and T20 squads for the upcoming tour of Bangladesh was picked after the newly elected BCCI President Sourav Ganguly met the selectors on Thursday following which the team was picked. Sanju Samson reaped his rewards for a dominating and consistent performance in the domestic tourney as he has been named in the T20 squad alongside Shivam Dube. The T20 side, led by Rohit Sharma is a younger squad comprising of just three or four senior players. The Test squad, on the other hand, saw just one new inclusion from their previous series. Youngster Shubman Gill has earned his maiden call-up to the national side for the longer format of the game after proving himself in the India A matches.

Bangladesh cricketers call off strike

As per sources, the Bangladesh cricketers have ended their strike on Wednesday, October 23, after they mentioned that most of their demands were met by the authorities which include a pay hike for domestic first-class players. Bangladesh's star all-rounder and the skipper of their Test and T20I sides Shakib Al Hasan went on to say that the talk was successful. In fact, the veteran all-rounder had played an instrumental role in the strike. He had clarified that once all the demands are fulfilled, players will be back on duty at all levels of the game in the country. If the reports are to be believed then Shakib has said that the players' demands have been heard by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President and Directors and they have also been assured that the concerned authorities will meet them as soon as possible. The veteran cricketer then added that it was on the basis of this assurance from the BCB that their first-class players will start playing from Saturday while their national team players will join the camp (for India tour) from October 25.
