Indian cricket star Virat Kohli has surpassed Bollywood superstars to become the most valued celebrity in India. Despite not having the best run in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, Kohli's brand value has soared. According to consultancy firm Kroll, his overall brand value increased by nearly 29% in the past year, reaching an impressive USD 227.9 million in 2023.

Virat Kohli's brand value soars

Virat Kohli's brand value is significantly bolstered by his marriage to Anushka Sharma, a prominent Bollywood actor. is partnership enhances its marketability and appeal to brands, resulting in lucrative endorsements and a robust presence in the public eye, which further elevates Kohli's overall brand value.

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh secured the second spot with a brand value of USD 203.1 million, while another prominent actor and IPL team owner was third with a value of USD 120.7 million. The list also features legendary cricketers MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar. Dhoni holds a brand value of USD 95.8 million, and Tendulkar ranks eighth with USD 91.3 million.

Despite Virat Kohli's high brand value, his performance in the T20 World Cup has been under scrutiny. He scored only 1 and 4 against Ireland and Pakistan, respectively, before being dismissed for a duck against the USA. 

As Virat Kohli continues to open alongside Rohit Sharma for the first time in an ICC tournament, there remains hope that he will find his rhythm as the tournament progresses, especially with a crucial match against Afghanistan on June 20.
