Virat Kohli thanks South African fielders for a valuable overthrow

Indian skipper Virat Kohli was very thankful to the South African fielders after their overthrow had yielded five precious runs for him and his team

Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been leading Indian side outstandingly well in Test cricket. In fact, under his leadership, India has been top-ranked side in longest format of game for three years w i.e. since October 2016 to be precise. Virat Kohli-led side has also had an excellent start to ir ICC World Test Championship campaign as y are on top of points table with 160 points in three games. Meanwhile, Kohli, who was dethroned from top spot by Steve Smith in batsman's rankings, will also look to get as close as he can to top spot. However, re was one incident that prompted him to thank South African fielders.

Kohli thanks Proteas

It had happened in 66th over of first day's play in Pune on Thursday. Kohli, who is arguably world-class batsman when it comes to running between wickets, attempted a quick single after having guided one down to point. Meanwhile, Kagiso Rabada, who was fielding at point, quickly collected ball and aimed at stumps. t only did throw miss stumps, but it was t backed by fielder at forward short leg eir and  ball raced towards boundary as a result of which Kohli got five precious runs for himself as well as for his team. Indian skipper was so overwhelmed after getting that overthrow which had eased off a lot of pressure that he showed his gesture by thanking South African fielders by giving thumbs to m all.

Kohli scores his 26th Test ton

Virat Kohli had come out to bat after India had lost Cheteshwar Pujara and sometime later even centurion Mayank Agarwal departed back to pavilion. Kohli n steadied things with vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane as India ended Day 1 without any furr dam.

Kohli had resumed his innings on Day 2 at score of 63. He along with Rahane added 178 runs for fourth wicket stand. In process, Indian captain scored his 26th Test century which put India in a commanding position. At tea on Day 2, Kohli remained unbeaten on 194 as India's score read 473/4.
