Virat Kohli and Royal Challengers Bangalore are synonymous with each other as far as the Indian Premier League ( IPL ) is concerned. Across the seventeen editions of the IPL, Virat Kohli is the only player who has played for just one franchise and this speaks a lot about his commitment to the franchise and how he resonates with the fans. Kohli stepped down as the skipper of RCB after the second leg of IPL 2021 and since then Faf du Plessis has been donning the captain's hat.
Mega Auctions To Cause Massive Changes in RCB?
Royal Challengers Bengaluru, over the past three seasons has been led by Faf Du Plessis and it seems unlikely that he might continue doing so in the future. The mega auctions are just around the corner and they are bound to cause massive changes in every franchises. To be very fair and square, Du Plessis is at the fag end of his career and this might force RCB to look ahead of him.

There are murmurs that KL Rahul might return to the Bengaluru based franchise, but they are all reports as of now and there is no official confirmation about the same. This leaves Royal Challengers Bengaluru with only one option. Will Kohli return as their skipper? Kohli had captained RCB in two IPL games back in 2023. While speaking on 2 Sloggers' YouTube channel, former India and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player, Aakash Chopra had a very interesting take on it.

'I highly doubt it because once he has decided, then it is done and dusted. The problem is that they might have to look for a new captain again. Maybe, they don't see Faf in their plans any longer. I mean do you want to invest in Faf for the next three years? He is a good captain but this is a huge auction. They'll have to look for a skipper elsewhere', added Aakash Chopra.
