Indian captain Virat Kohli celebrates his 31st birthday on Tuesday. One of the greatest players of his era, Kohli is well-known for his aggression and passion on the field. The Delhi batsman is good with his words and has responses up his sleeve every time the opposition try to ruffle his feathers with words. Here, let’s take a look at Virat Kohli’s top 3 sledges.
Virat Kohli's Top 3 Sledges
1. Virat Kohli vs Miguel Cummins, India tour of West Indies, 2019
With the stump mics on nowadays, not every conversation on the field is a mystery. So when Miguel Cummins played out the second-longest duck in the history of cricket, Virat Kohli had some words of advice for the West Indian bowler. Cummins, who scored a 45-ball duck, was batting with West Indies captain Jason Holder. At one stage, Kohli irritably asked Cummins to get a move on as the West Indies players are known for their T20 exploits in the cricketing world. Cummins' 95-stay at the crease was the second-longest for a duck after Geof Allott of New Zealand survived for 101 minutes vs South Africa in 1999.
2. Virat Kohli vs Mitchell Johnson, India tour of Australia, 2014-15
Virat Kohli is always fired up when in Australia. Known for their aggressive sledging, the Australians had a taste of their own medicine when Virat Kohli led India’s sledging party. Micthell Johnson, who took a special liking to Kohli on India’s tour of Australia in 2014-15, was on the receiving end as Virat Kohli again let the bat do the talking. Kohli celebrated his century by blowing a kiss to the fast-bowler along with blowing one to his girlfriend Anushka Sharma.
3. Virat Kohli vs Sohail Khan, ICC Cricket World Cup 2015
When India face Pakistan, the emotions are always on a high. So when Pakistan pacer Sohail Khan called Virat Kohli a 'lion in his own den', he clearly had no clue what he was going to be hit with. Kohli scored a magnificent century and also sledged Sohail when he came out to bat. Sohail irritably lashed out, making Kohli laugh. Soon, the crowd got into the act and Sohail Khan was soon hoping he shouldn’t have said anything in the first place.
