Virat Kohli's arch rival all set to retire from ODIs after World Cup 2023

In a shocking development, this young pace bowler has decided to hang up his boots from ODI cricket after the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup.

Naveen-ul-Haq has announced his retirement from the ODI format and will hang up his boots after the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup in India. The 24 year old has been picked up in the 15 member Afghanistan squad for the World Cup. Naveen is well known for his tiff with Virat Kohli during an IPL 2023 match between Lucknow Super Giants and the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The Afghani pacer has been involved in just seven ODIs and is expected to play a part in all nine round-robin matches in the World Cup starting from 5th October. The youngster took to Instagram to let everyone know about his decision.

He wrote, "It has been an absolute honour to represent my country would like to announce my retirement from ODI format at end of this World Cup and will continue to wear this blue jersey in t20 cricket for my country it hasn’t been an easy decision to make but to prolong my playing career had to take this tough decision would like to thank @afghanistancricketboard
And all my fans for their support and unwavering love 🇦🇫♥️"

Afghanistan will first play against Bangladesh on Saturday, 7th October at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.
