Sir Viv Richards came forward to hail Indian women's team for showcasing an outstanding performance throughout tournament despite failing at final hurdle. Australia beat India in summit clash to win ir record fifth Women's T20 World Cup at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday. By virtue of this win, y also successfully retained ir title.

'Never be let down': Viv Richards

Taking to micro-blogging site, Vivian Richards urged Indian women's team to never be let down. two-time World Cup-winner also mentioned that Harmanpreet Kaur-led side have been amazing throughout tournament and that y will have trophy in ir hands one day. Richards n motivated Indian eves to keep believing.

Chasing a stiff target of 185 to win ir maiden world title, Shafali Verma failed for first time in tournament as 16-year old was sent back by Megan Schutt for just 2 in first over. India never recovered from early setback and soon found mselves reeling at 30-4 before end of powerplay. Having been completely outplayed by a dominant Australian unit, India hobbled ir way to 99 to fall 85 runs short of ir target.

With ir 85-run win, Australia Women successfully defended ir 2018 T20 World title and lifted trophy for a record 5th time in tournament’s history. Meg Lanning-led side also became second team in history to lift title at home after England winning inaugural edition in 2009.
