Gautam Gambhir succeeded Rahul Dravid as Team India's Head Coach on July 9, 2024. The announcement was made by Board of Control For Cricket In India secretary Jay Shah. Rahul Dravid's tenure as India's head coach came to an end after India defeated South Africa in the finals of the ICC men's T20 World Cup. The Indian team is currently under transitional phase and the onus now lies on the next generation to take Indian cricket forward.

Bad News Strikes For Sri Lankan Cricket

Gautam Gambhir's first stint as Team India Head Coach will start with an away tour to Sri Lanka. The blue brigade will play 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is against their Asian rivals. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are likely to rest and in their absence KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya might be bestowed with leadership duties. Though India look like a settled unit, there is a bad news for Sri Lanka and how they want to resolve the issues around their leadership roles.

Speculated Reasons Behind Hasaranga's Resignation

Waninu Hasaranga might not have revealed the exact reasons behind tendering his resignation as Sri Lanka captain but is being said that Sri Lanka's poor World Cup outing had a part to play. Sri Lanka, considered as a cricketing superpower few years back crashed out of the T20 World Cup in the group stage. On the contrary, the public scrutiny and pressure on Hasaranga was pretty less considering the fact that he was very new to the role.
