Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has come forward and said that IPL 2020 should be played before ICC T20 World Cup 2020. 13th edition of Indian Premier League that was originally scheduled to get underway on March 29 has been suspended indefinitely as of w due to global pandemic. showpiece event of T20 cricket is scheduled to be held in October-vember as of w in Australia. However, as per reports, event might get cancelled while re are various reports that stated that should event get underway, it would be played behind closed doors. An official confirmation regarding same will be taken by International Cricket Council (ICC) during ir next meeting on June 10.

'Playing IPL first will be more logical than World T20': Jaffer
During an interview with a news channel, Jaffer went on to say that playing IPL first will be more logical than World T20 as IPL will help players in getting accustomed to conditions and get ir game back. He justified by saying that playing a marquee tournament straightaway will only d to pressure after break.

ICC Defers Its Decision On World Cup T20 To Its Next Meeting On June 10
ICC on Thursday, June 28 neir postponed r taken any call on staging or deferring T20 World Cup to be held in Australia in October this year. Following a long 4 hour meeting, ICC deferred all listed nda, including all-important decision to st or postpone World Cup T20, to its next Board meeting on June 10. decision to defer nda was taken following a discussion led by Chairman Shashank Mahar with or Board members via teleconference around issue of confidentiality. According to an ICC release, a number of Board members h raised ir concerns over this issue recently and felt it required immediate attention to ensure sanctity and confidentiality of Board matters in line with highest standards of governance.

"re was unanimous agreement to immediately initiate an independent investigation led by ICC’s Ethics Officer and supported by global experts. Board will be updated on this by ICC CEO at its next meeting on 10 June 2020. Board also requested ICC manment continue with ir discussions with stakeholders in exploring various contingency options in light of rapidly changing public health situation caused by COVID 19 virus."
