A breath-taking fielding performance was witnessed during the clash between Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Saturday. It was a phenomenal effort which provided a huge breakthrough for Delhi as the dangerous Chris Gayle was sent back to the dugout.

The incident happened in the 13th over of Punjab's innings which was bowled by Sandeep Lamichhane. The 18-year-old leg-spinner was hit for a maximum in the previous ball. On the second ball, Lamichhane bowled a simple delivery on the off-stump as Gayle flung his bat and heaved it in order to deposit the ball into the stands. The bat had made good contact with the ball and it appeared that Gayle will hit his second consecutive six.

However, Colin Ingram had other ideas as he attempted a catch. In a dramatic catch, Chris Gayle was dismissed. He caught the ball nicely but he was losing his balance and knew that he would not be able to complete the catch. Nonetheless, the South African cricketer showed a good presence of mind as he threw the ball back before falling inside the boundary line. His efforts paid off as Axar Patel backed him and took the catch as a stunned Chris Gayle could not believe what had just happened which ended his blistering knock.

Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first. It turned out to be a good decision as the hosts got the wicket of in-form batsman KL Rahul very early and even Mayank Agarwal followed him soon. Chris Gayle anchored Punjab's innings. The 'Universe Boss' played an explosive knock of a 37-ball 69 at a strike rate of 186.89 including six boundaries and five maximums. His blistering knock helped the visitors get to a respectable total of 163/7 in their 20 overs.
