'We'll make a fresh start in 2nd T20I', says Yuzvendra Chahal

As India lost the first T20 to Bangladesh, India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal on Tuesday, November 5, said there is no pressure from the management and they just need to ensure that mistakes are not repeated. In a thrilling last-over match, Captain Mahmudullah finished off in style as Bangladesh beat India in the first T20 at Arun Jaitley Stadium on November 3 in Delhi by 7 wickets.

India has fielded a lot of youngsters for the T20 series against Bangladesh keeping in mind the T20 World Cup in Australia. "The 11 that are playing now, and the players who are there in the 15-member squad they know their roles, it is not like someone is going out after playing one or two matches," Chahal told reporters ahead of the second T20 International against Bangladesh.

"A couple of matches can go wrong but there is no pressure from the management. The only thing is that we shouldn't repeat the mistakes that we commit in any particular match. I think we are positive. It is not like we haven't lost the first match of any series and didn't go on to win the series. The first match is done, if you think about the last match then negatives will come into mind," Chahal said.

"Before we came here, we have forgotten about that loss and we are making a fresh start and the entire 15 are focussed and positive, and hopefully, we will win tomorrow," he added.

This victory was also Bangladesh's first victory against the Men in Blue in T20 cricket. Further speaking about the pressure for the second T20, Chahal said, 

"We are one down and still two matches to go and obviously if we believe in ourself we will come back."

Focus shifts on bowling

So now team India's immediate task was to sort out the bowling issues primarily as a unit and at death overs as Men in Blue's think tank swung into action at the nets in Rajkot with a clear focus shifting on spinners and pacers bowling to specific plans. The plan was different to left and right-handed batsmen, following a tight line & length and mixing up with wrong ones.  Before the training session, Chahal, who in the absence of regular pacers & spinners, found himself as the most experienced bowler in the team, felt that Team India would more often than not win matches if they collectively bowled well as a unit or group.
