Amid a major uproar of the fans upon Team India's dismal batting showcase, star all-rounder Washington Sundar, who has been showing promising signs against Sri Lanka, has defended the batters despite their uneven performance in the away white-ball series. He backed the players, saying that it is certainly a challenging wicket, and they need to find out how to get the job done.

"We're quality players of spin. We've always played on these kinds of pitches, even at home, even in Test matches. In domestic cricket, we play a lot of games on such wickets. A lot of our players have done really well, especially in the middle order, especially batting against spin.
