West Indies' Nicolas Pooran suspended for ball-tampering against Afghanistan
West Indies wicketkeeper-batsman Nicolas Pooran has been handed a four-match suspension n after admitting to ball-tampering in the 3rd ODI against Afghanistan.

West Indies wicketkeeper-batsman Nicolas Pooran was on Wednesday handed a four-match suspension after mitting to ball-tampering in third ODI against Afghanistan, an offence for which he also issued a public apology. Pooran will w miss next four T20 International games for West Indies and will have five demerit points ded to his record. game in question took place in Luckw on Monday.

ICC releases its official statement
"Nicolas Pooran has been handed four suspension points after mitting breaching level 3 of ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel...," International Cricket Council said in a statement.
"Pooran was charged with violating Article 2.14 of code, which relates to 'changing condition of ball' after video foot showed him scratching surface of ball with his thumbnail," it ded. Pooran mitted offence on Tuesday and accepted sanction proposed by match referee Chris Bro."I recognise that I me an extreme error in judgement and I fully accept ICC penalty. I want to assure everyone that this is an isolated incident and it will t be repeated," Pooran stated.

Pooran apologises to his team-mates
"I want to issue a sincere apology to my teammates, supporters and Afghanistan team for what transpired on field of play on Monday in Luckw."I recognise that I me an extreme error in judgement and I fully accept ICC penalty. I promise to learn from this and come back stronger and wiser," he ded.

charge was levelled by on-field umpires Bismillah Shinwari and Ahmed Durrani and third umpire Ahmed Pakteen as well as fourth umpire Izatullah Safi.Level 3 breaches carry a minimum penalty of four suspension points which translates to five demerit points on a player's record and a ban of two Test matches or four ODI/T20I matches and a maximum penalty of 12 suspension points which equate to six demerit points.
