Shardul Thakur boasts a huge ODI record for India

Shardul Thakur's performance in ODIs since the 2019 Cricket World Cup holds a surprising yet remarkable record. He stands as the highest wicket-taker for India during this period, having taken an impressive 52 wickets. Following closely is Kuldeep Yadav with 48 wickets, while Mohammed Siraj (43) and Yuzvendra Chahal (37) secure the third and fourth positions on the list, respectively.

For Shardul Thakur, the most important thing is to make a significant impact in the game, regardless of whether it's with the ball or the bat. His satisfaction comes from contributing to the team's victory, even if he's not always in the spotlight.

"In the last few years, we've played with a deep batting line-up. As an allrounder who bats in the lower order, my job becomes important. We've seen in big chases - or if you want to put up a high score in the first innings - [that] if you try to accelerate, you will lose one or two wickets here and there. If your No. 8 and No. 9 can contribute with the set batter, it helps. So that role is crucial," Shardul said.

"Whenever I get an opportunity, I just try to contribute to the team's success. That's my thought process whenever I play - whether it's batting, bowling or fielding. End of the day, I should be happy I've made an effort, and my performances should be impactful, whichever department it is," he added.
