Sourav Ganguly has made his charismatic presence & administrative skills felt, as BCCI is all set to propose amendments in its AGM in Mumbai on Dec 1, which may allow him to continue as its President for a full term of 3 years. If Ganguly's "cooling off" period (which restricts his term to 10 months) was amended n it has to be sent to Supreme Court for its clearance.  second point of six-point nda of BCCI amendment proposal, a copy of which is with Republic TV, deals with term & cooling period of office bearers of BCCI including its president.

" cooling off period applied finally in BCCI Rules takes into account wher a person has held a post for 6 years in both member association and BCCI. This restriction is proving to be a big blow to selecting talented and experienced hands.

"This also affects continuity of individual''s ability to serve in administration unnecessarily. Hence, cooling off can be restricted to BCCI and member state, respectively.

proposed rule reads: "A President or Secretary, who has served in such position for two consecutive terms in BCCI, shall t be eligible to contest any furr election without completing a cooling-off period of three years. "During cooling-off period, such ''office-bearer'' shall t be a member of Governing Council or of any committee whatsoever of BCCI. expression ''President'' or ''Secretary'' should t be permitted to be circumvented by being a member of any or committee or of Governing Council in BCCI, as case may be."

six-point amendment proposals were intended to rework certain regulations, t in line with suggestions of Lodha Panel as approved by Supreme Court. first pointer related to need to approach SC for approval for every change made, which officials feel is t feasible. third point related to disqualification of members. officials feel that in current scenario, lack of experience will be a huge issue, especially in representing BCCI in International Cricket Council (ICC). fourth point is related to position of Secretary. office bearers feel that currently, position of secretary needed a re-look. Finally, new office bearers feel that daily administration has been handed to CEO and powers should be returned to office-bearers.
