Will IPL 2021 NOT have Dream11 as title sponsors? BCCI left in lurch with terms of deal

The BCCI, who is renowned as the world's richest cricketing board, is without a title sponsor for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021).

BCCI recently confirmed IPL auction date with event scheduled to take place on February 18 in Chennai. IPL auction date is just three weeks away, however, BCCI who is rewned as world's richest cricketing board is once again without a title sponsor for upcoming cricketing extravaganza, much like last edition of IPL.

IPL 2021 auction to go ahe without title sponsor? BCCI mulling options

 Dream11 IPL deal ended on December 31 and chances of renewal of deal are close to ne. tably, neir IPL's official website, social media handles r press releases carry Dream11 logo anymore. Ahe of IPL 2021, BCCI have a huge crisis on ir hands to get a title sponsor on board for lucrative tournament.

According to an Insidesport report, a BCCI official said that a new tender for IPL 2021 sponsors is only feasible option currently available for board. official ded that Dream11 IPL deal was almost half and y can’t continue with same. He furr said that going back to VIVO also is highly unlikely in current situation and opined that final decision on new tender and title sponsor will be taken soon.

Remarkably, BCCI h to suspend its ₹440 crore per year deal with Chinese smartphone making company VIVO.  VIVO IPL deal fallout originated because of anti-China sentiment across country post India-China standoff at Galwan Valley, where 20 Indian soldiers were martyred in June. Due to VIVO IPL deal fallout, Dream11 came onboard where y shelled ₹222 crore to be title sponsors for IPL 2020, almost half of original deal.

During deal, Dream11 dropped a demand that it should be automatically given rights for next two years if VIVO pulls out in 2021 and 2022 editions as well. Dream11 offered to pay ₹240 crore each for IPL 2021 and IPL 2022 if VIVO opts out. However, BCCI denied negotiations, thus signing Dream11 for just one year.

With just three weeks to go for IPL 2021 auction, it will be interesting to see if or t BCCI is able to get a title sponsor on board. As of w, board has three options - renegotiate Deal with Dream11, go back to VIVO or release a new tender. BCCI will do all it can to land a new sponsor before IPL 2021 auction as it is televised event where title sponsor gets huge mile. However, as thing stand, it is likely that IPL 2021 auction will go ahe without a title sponsor.
