Women's cricket: Smriti Mandhana loses No.1 ODI batswomen ranking

Indian opening batswoman Smriti Mandhana was dethroned by New Zealand’s Amy Satterthwaite for the number 1 spot in the latest ICC Women’s ODI batting rankings.

Indian batswoman Smriti Mandhana was recently dethroned by New Zealand’s Amy Satterthwaite for the No.1 spot in the ICC Women’s ODI batting rankings. After her stay at the top of the charts, Mandhana was finally replaced by the New Zealander as the left-hander missed out on the recently concluded home ODI series against South Africa Women. According to the latest rankings revealed by the ICC, Mandhana is also joined by fellow Indian Mithali Raj in the top 10 as the Indian skipper is ranked at number seven with 705 rating points. Both Mandhana and Amy Satterthwaite have shared the top two positions in the rankings for a long time as both players have been in prolific run-scoring form for their respective teams.

Batting rankings

Amy Satterthwaite rules the ODI batting rankings chart with 759 rating points, followed by the Indian opening batswoman, who is at the second position by just four rating points. The third and fourth spots on the table are occupied by Australians Alyssa Healy and Ellyse Perry respectively. Only one rating point separates the two Australian stalwarts, who are also joined by fellow teammate Meg Lanning at the number six spot.

England’s Tammy Beaumont is positioned at number five and South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt is placed at number 8. New Zealand players Sophie Devine and Suzie Bates occupy the final two spots in the top 10 batswomen rankings as both players are tied at the ninth spot with 683 rating points.

Bowling and all-rounder rankings

Among the bowlers, Jess Jonassen continue to lead the bowling rankings with 755 points. She is 24 points clear of the second-placed Megan Schutt. Sana Mir from Pakistan and Ellyse Perry occupy the next two spots. Star all-rounder Ellyse Perry maintains a spot in the top five rankings of batting as well as bowling charts to propel her to the top of the ODI all-rounder rankings.
