Indian cricket fans would have got a huge shock after learning that the captain and iconic batsman Virat Kohli suffered a minor injury at the nets during the practice session ahead of Team India's World Cup opening clash against South Africa. The world-class batsman ended up injuring his right thumb.

The 30-year-old was seen getting the assistance of physiotherapist Patrick Farhart, who first applied the healing spray on Kohli's right thumb before taping it. At the same time, the top-ranked batsman in Tests and One Day Internationals was also seen walking back out of the ground with his thumb dipped in a glass of ice water after the practice session.
At the same time, Team India already have a couple of injury concerns. All-rounder Kedar Jadhav is still recovering from his shoulder injury. While Jadhav was involved in the net sessions, where he batted and bowled, he ended up missing out on both of India's warm-up fixtures against New Zealand and Bangladesh respectively. On the other hand, all-rounder Vijay Shankar had injured his elbow during the practice session in London, due to which he could not feature in India's first warm-up game against the Kiwis. However, he recovered just in time to play in the second warm-up match against Bangladesh at Cardiff.

Meanwhile, South Africa's star fast bowler Kagiso Rabada had also taken a dig at Virat Kohli by calling him 'immature.' Rabada's remarks have made it a perfect ingredient for what is expected to be a blockbuster face-off at Southampton.
