World Cup 2019 | 'Getting closer to the cup': Celebrities heap praises on Men in Blue as they beat Sri Lanka to go on top of points table

India signed off their group-stage campaign on a victorious note as they beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets with 39 balls to spare. India has lost just one game in the ongoing tournament and has already confirmed a berth in the semi-finals.

India signed off their group-stage campaign on a victorious note as they beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets with 39 balls to spare. India has lost just one game in the ongoing tournament and has already confirmed a berth in the semi-finals. 

Rohit Sharma (103) and KL Rahul (111) helped India reach the 200-run mark before falling short of finishing the game. While KL Rahul scored his maiden ton in the current World Cup, Rohit Sharma scored his third consecutive hundred to create a record of most number centuries scored by a player in a World Cup edition. In addition to this, Sharma also became the leading run-scorer in the ongoing tournament with 647 runs to his name.

From Bollywood celebrities to the sports fraternity, prominent people took to Twitter to congratulate the Men in Blue for successfully finishing off their World Cup campaign.

Veteran actor Anupam Kher congratulated the team and said that the winning streak will continue for the Men in Blue.

Actor Anil Kapoor congratulated the team and said that with every win, India was inching closer to the World Cup.

Singer Daler Mehendi extended congratulatory message to Team India and openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul for their centuries.

Captain of Indian Women's Cricket team Mithali Raj also took to Twitter to congratulate the team and wish them luck for the semi-finals.
