Team India continued their unbeaten run in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 by a nail-biting 11-run win against Afghanistan at Southampton on Saturday. However, unlike their previous games, the Indian batting struggled to get going against the Afghans. The Virat Kohli-led side suffered an early setback when their in-form opening batsman Rohit Sharma was bowled by a dream delivery from young mystery spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman. KL Rahul and Vijay Shankar got starts but were dismissed when India were beginning to gain command. Rahul and Shankar had added 57and 58 run stands with skipper Kohli for the second and third wicket stand respectively.
Kohli then anchored his team's innings and registered his 52nd half-century. He scored a 63-ball 67 which included five boundaries at a strike rate of 106.35. After the captain's dismissal, the onus was on middle-order batsmen MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav to accelerate and take the Men In Blue to a big total. However, the duo found it difficult to cope up with the tricky surface as India's scoring rate dropped. While both Dhoni and Jadhav were involved in a 57-run stand for the fifth wicket, they had consumed 84 balls. The veteran wicket-keeper batsman was dismissed for a 52-ball 28 while Jadhav went on to score a half-century before falling to skipper Gulbadin Naib in the final over for a 68-ball 52 as India could only manage to get to 224/8 in their 50 overs.

Both the middle-order batsmen were criticized on social media for their slow innings which hampered India's momentum.
Former English skipper Michael Vaughan came forward and wrote 'The rest of the world will be delighted if Kedar Jadhav continues to play ahead of Rishab Pant ... !! #CWC19 #JustSaying'.

Just like Vaughan, there were others who could not hide their disappointment either.
