India will be aiming to keep their unbeaten run intact against the hosts England during their ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 clash at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Sunday. Meanwhile, England will be looking to keep their semifinal hopes alive after back-to-back losses against Sri Lanka and arch-rivals Australia respectively.
England skipper Eoin Morgan won a crucial toss and elected to bat first. The hosts got off to a brisk start on a good batting wicket riding on their openers Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow. The Indian bowlers had a tough time in the middle as they were hit to all parts of the ground. Both Roy and Bairstow laid a solid foundation for England. The duo not only brought up the 100-run stand for the first wicket but also registered their respective half-centuries.
Just when it looked like the two destructive openers would take the match away from India's grasp, the partnership was broken. It was not due to an excellent delivery, but an outstanding catch. Yes, that's right. The catch was taken by Ravindra Jadeja, who is arguably India's best fielder in the modern day cricket.
It happened in the 23rd over of the first innings which was bowled by Kuldeep Yadav. On the very first delivery, Kuldeep bowled a flighted delivery as Roy came down the track and attempted a big one. It appeared that the opener would have got another one out of the ground, but it was not to be as Jadeja ran to his right, dived forward and took a spectacular catch. Skipper Virat Kohli could not control his emotions as he jumped in joy while a shell-shocked Jason Roy walked back to the pavilion.
The video of this stellar catch was posted by ICC.
Even the netizens came forward to appreciate this stunningly outstanding catch.
