In a major disappointment, Bangladesh pacer has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has confirmed.

Bangladesh fast bowler Ebadot Hossain has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup. The lanky pacer will undergo a knee surgery which will make him out of contention for the upcoming cricketing extravaganza. Tanzim Sakib was named as his replacement.

Bangladesh bowler Ebadot Hossain ruled out of the ICC World Cup
As reported by Cricbuzz, BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin confirmed the player will miss the upcoming ICC event to be staged in India. Ebadot was hit with an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the last ODI series against Afghanistan and has been on the sidelines since then.

As quoted by Cricbuzz, Abedin said, "He (Ebadot) will not be available for us in the World Cup. It's a big blow for us as he will require operation for his knee. Following the operation he will certainly take some time for rehabilitation purpose, at least three to four months, so we cannot consider him for World Cup."

Bangladesh captain Shakib al Hasan expressed his disappointment as he admitted the fast bowler was a crucial part of their plan. "It is very sad that Ebadot is not with us because he was an important part of our team and taking that into consideration it is quite disappointing."

Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha also added, "Ebadot is one of our impact bowlers, the fastest bowler out of the five fast bowlers we played in the last few series. So, it's a big loss, and to replace him straight away it's a hard task."

Dr Debashis Chowdhury who happens to be BCB's leading physician failed to provide an accurate time span on the player's recovery process. As quoted by ESPN Cricinfo he said, Ebadot consulted a knee specialist in London this week.

"Upon extensive review of his condition, it was decided that Ebadot would undergo a left ACL reconstruction and meniscal repair.
"At this stage, we are not in a position to provide further details including the rehab process and expected timeframe for recovery. However, we are fully committed to helping and supporting the player in every way possible in his journey towards returning to cricket."
