Babar Azam calls Azam Khan a ‘Gainda’

The episode took place during a practice session of the Pakistan men's cricket team in Dallas, Texas. The video shows Pakistani players including Babar Azam and Azam Khan training on the ground. The incident did not sit well with fans who slammed Babar for not respecting his own teammate.

Azam Khan, who is the son of former Pakistan cricketer Moin Khan, has been under the scanner for his performances and fitness. Former Pakistan players including the likes of Shahid Afridi and Salman Butt have criticised Azam Khan over his fitness standards. Afridi even said that he wouldn't let Azam Khan come even close to the Pakistan team based on his fitness alone.

Both Babar Azam and Azam Khan are part of the Pakistan squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. The incident occurred a few days before Pakistan's opening game of the tournament. These kinds of behaviour from a team's captain is not suitable before the start of such a big competition. It creates a hostile environment in the team and could also ignite animosity among players.

Pakistan are slated to lock horns against the United States in their opening match of the T20 World Cup 2024 on June 6. The Men in Green will then face their arch-rivals India on June 9.
