When Jasprit Bumrah bowled out Reeza Hendricks in the T20 World Cup 2024 final between South Africa and India in Barbados on Saturday, he put on another incredible show.
Bowling over the wicket to the right-handed Hendricks, Bumrah swung the ball inward. The ball delivered, veered off the batsman and struck the stumps as Hendricks was getting ready to play with the angle.
With 176 runs to secure in their pursuit of their second T20 World Cup victory, India made their first breakthrough with this vital wicket.
Already being touted as the "ball of the tournament" is Jasprit Bumrah's amazing delivery against Reeza Hendricks in the India vs. South Africa T20 World Cup final. Perfectly slanted in from over the wicket, Bumrah's ball pitched and sped away, totally fooling Hendricks and breaking the stumps. India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat against South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup on Saturday. India made 176/7 in their allotted 20 overs and South Africa in their innings have haunted the Indian cricket team. At the time of writing South Africa has made 123/4 in their 14 overs of 20 so far.
Both teams have had a stellar unbeaten run in the tournament finishing first in their respective group and Super Eight rounds.
While India are playing their third final of the T20 World Cup, with their last appearance in the 2014 edition and having won the inaugural edition in 2007, it is for the first time that the Proteas team has made it to the summit clash of an ICC tournament.
