Following the culmination of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, the International Cricket Council have released the team of the tournament. Not 1, not 2, not even 3 or 4 but 6 Indians have made it to the ICC's T20 World Cup 2024 XI. Along with the Indians, three Afghanis have also made it to the roster. The remaining two spots have been taken by one apiece representative from the West Indies and Australia.
Who are the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 team of the tournament?
Team India have had a dream run in the T20 World Cup 2024. The Men in Blue clinched the silverware as an invincible side. Thus, some standouts were bound to get recognition but ICC did not leave even one. ICC has released a downright India-dominated team of the tournament. Rohit Sharma the captain of India was an expected name, and he is featuring as the skipper in ICC's team as well. Along with Rohit, Jasprit Bumrah, who was adjudged the Player of the Tournament is there. No surprise about that. Suryakumar Yadav, who played crucial knocks against Australia and in the semi-final against England is there at number 4. All-rounders Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel, who kept chipping in with impactful knocks have made it to the ICC XI. Who's left now? The tournament's highest wicket-taker. Arshdeep Singh took 17 wickets in the tournament and thus his inclusion was customary. Virat Kohli played superlative knock in the India vs South Africa final, but that wasn't enough to take him into ICC'S side.

ICC's Team of the tournament
Besides Indians, ICC gave recognition to the performance of Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who ended up being the tournament's highest run-scorer with 281 runs. Ever-consistent Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan also made it to the XI and Fazalhaq Farooqi, who has had a standout tournament and tied with Arshdeep on wickets is there in ICC's team. West Indies' Nicholas Pooran and Australia's Marcus Stoinis filled the remaining two spots.
To summarise here's the ICC Team Of The Tournament: Rohit, Gurbaz, Pooran, Surya, Stoinis, Hardik, Axar, Rashid, Bumrah, Arshdeep and Farooqi.
While all the players have been rendered with a deserved inclusion, the absence of any player from South Africa, who finished runner-up is a subject worth pondering over, more so, when the Proteas entered the final as undefeated.
