India and the United States are set to clash in Match 25 of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, marking the first-ever international match between the two teams at such a prestigious level. India enters the fixture as the favorites, boasting a far superior squad with players who have extensive experience across all three formats. However, the USA is riding high on confidence after recent victories against ICC full members Bangladesh and Pakistan, hoping to deliver an upset.
In a bilateral series before the start of the T20 World Cup 2024, USA defeated Bangladesh. USA then thrashed Pakistan in their group-stage match of the tournament. The India vs USA match will take place on June 12 at the Nassau County International Stadium in New York.

USA batter Aaron Jones has expressed confidence in his team’s abilities ahead of the much-anticipated match against India. Jones emphasized that they will treat it like any other game, not getting intimidated by the big names in the Indian squad, which includes stars like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah.
Aaron Jones believes that ignoring the stature of their opponents and focusing on their game is the key.
"No, not really. I think we're going to treat it like a normal game. Obviously, we know India is a good team, but we've beaten good teams before. I think, obviously, we know that India is a good team, but we are going to treat it like any normal game, to be honest - we don't want to play names or teams or anything like that. We've beaten good teams in the past. So definitely going to go hard tomorrow against India," Jones said in a press conference before the match.
R Ashwin lauds Aaron Jones
Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has praised Aaron Jones for his comments ahead of the crucial fixture, highlighting the admirable competitive spirit the USA batter exhibits.
"A sportsman’s hunger to compete and be the best brings out this attitude and that is something we must admire," Ashwin remarked.

Aaron Jones is currently the second-highest run-scorer in T20 World Cup 2024 with 130 runs in two matches. He has also registered the highest individual score (94*) in the tournament thus far.
