ENG vs SL: Jos Buttler-led England team is currently witnessing a horror show, and that too at the grandest stage of them all, the World Cup stage. The English side that reformed ODI cricket after their early exit from 2015 ODI World Cup has become the victim of their own plans. The reason to it? nobody certainly has any answers, neither the coach, nor the players. The winners of the 2019 World Cup have probably run out of gas and might possibly become the first team to be eliminated from the current edition of the CWC.

3 things you need to know:

  • England won their first and only ODI World Cup in 2019
  • England have lost 4 out of their 5 CWC 2023 matches
  • England will now face India next on October 29, 2023

Irfan Pathan takes a dig at 2005 Ashes winning England skipper

Former India speedster, the winner of 2007 T20 World Cup and now a successful broadcaster Irfan Pathan is known to wear his heart on the sleeve. Pathan always speaks up on issues related to cricket, some go down well with the people and some don't. Unfazed by all the adulation and criticism, Pathan continues to speak his heart out and this time around he has taken a dig at former English skipper Michael Vaughan.

From the start of this World Cup, Michael Vaughan, who is known for his quirky tweets started posting about the lack of Indian crowds in the CWC 2023 matches. "Why so many empty seats in #Delhi for the India Game !??? #INDvsAFG",  tweeted Vaughan on October 11, 2023.

CWC 2023: England continue to sink deeper

Defending champions England have stunned the cricketing world with their dismal form and lackluster display of cricketing skills. England who reformed and redefined ODI cricket after being knocked out of the 2015 ICC ODI World Cup are lingering at the bottom of the point's table with just Netherlands beneath them. The English team management brought their Test skipper Ben Stokes out of his ODI retirement, but this decision hasn't reaped any kind of benefit for the English cricket team either. The champions of the 2019 World Cup are on the brink of elimination and now only a miracle can keep them alive in the marquee tournament.
