Suryakumar Yadav, the world's No. 1 ranked T20I batter, faced harsh criticism after another disappointing performance in a high-stakes match. SKY managed only 7 runs off 8 balls before being dismissed by Haris Rauf in the 11.2 overs during India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024 encounter in New York. This is not the first time Suryakumar Yadav failed to perform on the big stage as he was dismissed for 18 off 28 balls during the ODI World Cup final against Australia last year.

The match, held amidst multiple rain interruptions, saw Pakistan's pacers Naseem Shah, Mohammad Amir, and Haris Rauf deliver exceptional spells. Shah, with figures of 3/21, Amir with 2/23, and Rauf also claiming 3/21, dismantled the Indian batting lineup on a slightly two-paced pitch. India struggled to 119 all out, with only Rishabh Pant (42 off 31 balls, 6x4) showing resilience through some breathtaking strokes. The rest of the lineup crumbled, losing seven wickets for just 28 runs in a dismal collapse.
Pakistan's skipper Babar Azam’s decision to bowl first paid off handsomely, as his bowlers exploited the conditions effectively. Suryakumar Yadav’s failure added to India's woes, leading to intense scrutiny of his big-match temperament and ability to perform under pressure.
