Suryakumar Yadav gets well-deserved honor for taking unbelievable catch that won World Cup for India

In final fielding award ceremony of T20 World Cup 2024, fielding coach T Dilip once again dressed players and team staff in dressing room and picked best fielder from India vs South Africa T20 World Cup final. special guest of this time was none or than BCCI Chief Secretary Jay Shah. Dilip handed over medal to Shah, who completed drill by awarding Suryakumar Yav.

Suryakumar Yav gets awarded for taking match changing catch of David Miller

Suryakumar Yav came out as deserved pick as his catch on first ball of 20th over turned match completely in India's favour. David Miller was stuck in crease as South Africa's last chance of clinching championship and situation was tailor-me for him to take Africa past finish line. 16 runs were needed in final over. Miller smashed Hardik Pandya's full-toss delivery down ground. It h height and seeming elevation but Suryakumar Yav miraculously got hold of ball. catch is reminiscent of a typical take when a fielder is standing at boundary line sees incoming ball and goes for it, takes it, but due to inertia movement threat of touching rope stands and hence h to toss it up only to quickly come back and grab airborne again.

Suryakumar Yav has fielded brilliantly in entire T20 World Cup 2024. He exhibited his quick work in semi-final against England as well, where he inflicted run-out of il Rashid through a direct hit. However, that catch of David Miller will forever remain etched in hearts of Indian fans.  

Aside from being explosive with bat, Suryakumar Yav left an impact in every match of campaign with his brilliant fielding.
