Team India Returns Home: Why is Air India's Flight Called AIC24WC?

The newly crowned T20 World Cup 2024 champions Team India are finally on their way back home with the World Cup trophy after being stuck in Barbados since winning against South Africa due to Hurricane Beryl. 

India beat South Africa by 7 runs to be crowned Champions in a thrilling T20 World Cup 2024 final at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.  Post their triumph they were supposed to fly back home and return on 1st July but their plans were disrupted due to Hurricane Beryl striking the Caribbean Island.

But as the weather cleared, India is on its way back home after BCCI arranged a charter Air India flight and the name of the flight is AIC24WC. So why is the Air India flight carrying Team India called AIC24WC.

Why Team India's Air India Flight is Called AIC24WC? 

The Charter flight carrying the victorious Indian Team squad is called AIC24WC. The reason behind this name if anyone hasn't guessed till now is pretty simple. 

The Air India flight is named AIC24WC in tribute to India's amazing victory in the World Cup in the year 2024. The call sign signifies how a nation that was starved for winning the World Cup in over a decade has finally achieved the peak.

Open Bus Parade in Mumbai 

Team India is expected to land at New Delhi Airport at around 6:00 AM in the morning on July 4th, 2024. Post their landing in India, Rohit Sharma and company will meet with the Prime Minister at 11 AM. Then they will travel to Mumbai and are scheduled for an Open Bus Parade from Marine Drive to Wankhede in Mumbai at 5:00 PM in the evening.
